Current on-going research studies at the Chen Lab:
Meditation for Older Adults with Low Back Pain
We are looking to understand the feasibility and acceptability of a mindfulness-based meditation intervention on pain and symptoms among older adults with chronic low back pain.
The study will require 3 visits to FSU’s Brain Science & Symptom Management Center (BSSMC) at Innovation Park. Where participants will complete some questionnaires, sensory testing, and provide some stool samples.

Home-based taVNS for Breast Cancer Survivors
This research is being conducted to evaluate if home-based transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) is a feasible approach to reduce pain and related symptoms in breast cancer survivors.
This study includes 3 visits to our lab at Florida State University, each lasting about 2 hours. Additionally, there are two home-based taVNS sessions daily for 7 days each week, with each session lasting 30 minutes.
